Football Season

Football season kicked off with fans flocking to Hard Rock Stadium for home games. The Miami Dolphins hosted their opener, followed by two of their 2024 season’s five prime time games (Buffalo, September 12) and (Tennessee, September 30). The Miami Hurricanes’ September home game schedule includes, Ball State (September 14) and Virginia Tech (September 27).

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Institutions throughout South Florida celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15-October 15. Attend the reception for History Fort Lauderdale’s exhibit “VIVA Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture” (September 19); Dalé Zine Shop’s Hispanic Heritage Thursday talks (September 19-October 10); Miami Beach Bandshell’s Salsa Festival (September 28), and Norton Museum of Art’s family-friendly Nuestra Cultura Community Day with art, music and dance (October 5).

Opening at The Bass on September 25, “Rachel Feinstein: The Miami Years” is a trip down memory lane both for the artist who grew up here and other longtime locals. Landmarks like Fairchild Garden, Versailles Cuban restaurant and the Venetian Pool pepper her first major solo show in her hometown. Works, including paintings, video, performance, sculptures and a new site-specific installation, span nearly 30 years.
